Boogie Nights: Depiction, Endorsement, and the Wounded Humanity of P.T. Anderson’s Film
'If there is an overriding message to be gleaned from the freewheeling, nonjudgmental tone Anderson imbues within Boogie Nights, a film he both wrote and directed, it’s that these people are not simply depraved animals slamming into each other under the California sun; they are damaged, sometimes deluded human beings, who have earnest if occasionally misguided dreams, love one another, and are worthy of our attention and our empathy, if not our approbation.'

Energy From The Pacific

'About 70 percent of the sunlight coming to Earth lands on the ocean. Most of that is captured in the surface layers of the ocean water in the form of heat. That’s beautiful because we can extract that energy 24/7 and use that power any time we want it, totally eliminating the need for an energy storage system.'

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; The world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and Determination alone are Omnipotent.
Solar Windows

'The SolarWindows coatings would be applied to the inside of a glass-insulated window unit, not on the outside in order to protect the solar cells from the elements. To cut down costs, the coatings are developed for seamless integration into existing glass manufacturing processes. 'Invisible wires' in the glass convert photons into electricity and help provide a visual reference to prevent birds from crashing into the glass. The company also believes the technology can achieve a commercially viable 25-year warranty, which is the same lifespan shared by conventional solar panels.'

'Despite this degree of stoicism, (Kyle Reese is) far from fearless and unemotional. During many scenes he practically vibrates with intensity, to the point of seeming slightly unhinged. 'What day is it? What year?!?' he snarls at a cop he’s holding at gunpoint shortly after his disorienting arrival. Kyle’s fear that the Terminator will succeed in killing Sarah is apparent when he loses his cool completely and goes into a shouting rant at a psychologist in the police station. He’s also frighteningly intense when trying to convince Sarah she’s in danger: 'It absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.' His sense of desperation about his mission to prevent the destruction of humanity only increases the movie’s tension for the audience.'

Want To Store 3,000 Hi-Def Copies 0f 'Mad Max: Fury Road?'

'Samsung’s solution, called V-NAND, has seen remarkable gains since its introduction. In the first year, the company stacked 24 layers on a single die, while in 2014 it managed 36. The 16TB SSD kicks that up to 48. The implications of storage breakthroughs like this go beyond just data centers and laptops. By applying an innovative manufacturing technique to existing flash technology, Samsung has created a hard drive that could store well over 3,000 high-definition copies of 'Mad Max: Fury Road' on your MacBook Pro. It might sound unlikely that you’ll ever need 16TB of space or be willing to pay for it. For now these are far more likely to end up in servers; the closest you’ll likely come to using one is if it happens to wind up powering a cloud you tap into.'

Tone Vs. Cost

'The script clocks in at 121 pages, and it is definitely dense...It’s clear that the biggest problem with this script, for Fox, was that it would be expensive - there are not many scenes that take place inside hallways...Fox wanted to bring this movie in cheap, and as a result they cut essentially everything after the team gets their powers and then rushed to a conclusion. Josh Trank's vision of the story seems to be different from what Slater wrote; this isn't the darker, more grounded take on the material by any stretch of the imagination.'

Kevin Costner on 'Waterworld'

'I'm not sure you know how beloved the movie is around the world. Being hard (on a film) is really easy if you don't know the underbelly of what (went into it). When you do know the forensics of a movie - the participation and decisions of others that one has to stand in front of - you can't help but see it differently. I know that people might think of 'Waterworld' as a low point for me. It wasn't. It could have had a better, more obvious outcome. The thing I know is that I never had to stand taller for a movie when most were going the other way. The movie with all its imperfections was a joy for me... a joy to look back upon and to have participated in.'

'Over the past few years, state DMVs across the country have been implementing programs to stop people from getting false identifications to begin with. When a person seeking a new license visits the DMV, their image is checked against a database of photos. If the person is trying to obtain a false ID, because they're trying to shed their old, shitty driving record, because they're trying to steal another person's identity, or any one of myriad reasons one would try to scam a new card, their face won't match the photos associated with their assumed name. Or the search will find photos of that person under their true name.'
